Hi Curta-lovers!

I certainly plan to get the plastic case for the Curta I reproduced on a high level from a professional manufacturer to get as close as possible to the original. Same size, same material, same quality.

Will get their quote on a small first production series for 50 units next week, or so.

Since I would need already 10 plus some spares for the future myself, how many would you need? Just, how many would you need? Forget the price, at this point.

Yes, itīs a question which would be related to the price, of course, but the bigger the production number will be, the lower the price will be, too.

Originals, once you will find one, run against 350 USD / 300 Euro. Thatīs a killer, but not really, because these offers are so rare, with a chance to get the deal, both towards zero.

Stickers are already sorted out, and will be cheap, but high quality.

OK, shipping might be an extra, but I just do not want to make money on this. So expect the lowest possible international shipping costs.

No handling fee, no upsale, just how many would you be willing to take?

Sounds too good? Ok, my pleasure.

Just to make it clear, I know that originally the plastic case was only for the last series. Still a plastic reproduction - and we are not talking 3D printing here - would be much better than nothing. There is also an idea to mark the reproductions f.e. with „2019“ to make sure, collectors understand that they are not original.

Again, I have not seen any pricing quote by now, but maybe you could also reply with a pricing idea, roughly, you would be happy with, to help me understand that this project is not totally nuts.

And yes, there are plans to reproduce the metal case as well, but this is not that easy.

Greetings from Germany to everyone!

A Curta canister consists six parts...
- lid
- bottom
- black O-ring
- upper gummi bumper
- lower gummi bumper
- aluminum tag

For the same quality you need a molding form which is extreme expensive - or do they use another technology? Also, to find the other parts is not cheap.

The demand for these canisters is not as high that I think this would be payable.

And, with some research you will find Curta canisters below $100 Cool

Thanks murrf,

in total I count seven parts, but this is just details.

All engineering drawings and 3D CAD files are available, so the rest is easy.

Happy to receive offers for original boxes via PM, if somebody wants to sell them for your estimated price. 😁

Injection moulding is the way to look at it in terms of precision results. 😉

... as mentioned above.

Maybe this is "easy" (for professionals) - but for sure it's not cheap, isn't it?
