I purchased a Type I on eBay that was difficult to operate in addition mode and ultimately locked up in subtraction mode. Like others, I discovered there was no USA repair option and communicated with providers in France and Switzerland, but decided on Romano in Italy. International shipping in the COVID era is an adventure, but Romano was fantastic. He gave me an estimate within days of receiving the unit, repaired it and had it on it's way back to me in less than a week. My Curta was dirty, had a bent lever and a missing ball. He repaired all this and cleaned the exterior beautifully. The operation is so smooth now that it's hard to believe.
I cannot recommend Romano too highly. His emails were frequent and informative, and he was on top of the shipping progress as it traveled to and from him. He even called the Italian Postal service several times to find out why the package wasn't moving. Oh, and his price for service was very reasonable.
