Here are two pictures of the Curta Type 2 #561563:

[source: private collection]

On the Base plate, the large digits of the serial number indicate the last series. Not all of these numbers were actually produced as Curta,
as the numbers 561626, 561623 and 561638 show.

This final phase of production at Hilti is unfortunately not exactly documented - 561660 is mentioned as the highest serial number.
It can be assumed that there are some more of these "desired configurations" - so also cutaway models Curta Type 2, which were
officially never produced by Contina AG...

A light fog is quite possible in autumn . . .

Cool

OK, so if the late series were engraved with serial numbers with larger digits it's unlikely that mine has an "on-demand" serial:

The digits are exactly the same size as the ones on my other late Type II. That can probably mean anything - including that there was an old Type II or parts of it and whoever assembled the last machines just used the bottom plate of that machine for a new one.

I just had a look at the pages of the "Museum Mura".

Look at this:
https://www.museummura.li/content.aspx?nid=5050&groupnr=5050

On the left there are three thumbnails, and when you click on the leftmost one (the one with the Curtas, obviously), you'll see that there is another one of the late black Curta II with red sliders.
