I'm getting ready to glue a Haltezapfen that I made (anodized aluminum) into the metal lid and was planning to just use standard clear 2 part epoxy.

I just took a quick look at the lid on my Type 2 Curta (made in 1960) and noticed it was glued on with some sort of reddish adhesive ?!? Was this common or something specific ?? I'm not super concerned about perfectly restoring the can.....just unfamiliar with the red adhesive and curious.
