Hi All

Long time lurker, but I have a quick question regarding serial number plate on one of my Curtas.

I bought it in 2019 from Spain. The unit is in fine condition, however the serial number plate on the bottom seems different to any I have seen online.

The serial has been hand engraved rather than the type face "stamp" I have seen on all others I have seen online or in person. (not that many really though!)

Question I have; is this legit, a replacement, or were some labeled in this manner?

The plate seems to match the rest of the body as for age, I guess its the same or similar age.

Hello

Coincidentally, I have two Curtas purchased in Spain that do not have the engraved base.

Could you post a photo of the base of yours?

We had a conversation about this a while ago in another thread.

Realised I should have posted a picture.

I have seen a couple with blank plates and assumed they may have been replaced. I guess there’s no reason they couldn’t have engraved this one if replacing it for some reason

Curious, here in Spain we improvise but that is very surprising.

I guess so, but just in case I'm asking.

Does that number correspond to the engraving inside the machine?

So I’ve opened the bottom. Both serial numbers match.

Curiously the inside of the plate has been engraved, 13-1-72.

I think we can say that it was serviced on that date, possibly needing a bottom plate replacement.

I’ll drop some photos later
