early prime number 500839...

The interesting point is that the related documents are dated June, 19. 1953 - the earliest Curta Type II is always dated 1954.

see more pictures...

I'm starting to think dating supermodels might be easier than these Curtas. I've got two 500xxx's before yours and I had been under the impression they were 1954 as well!

It looks in beautiful condition - has it been restored? I envy the models that some of you have. In my next time on Earth I will pick a more lucrative career. I do have a second chance, don't I?
By the way Pete, you can also restore supermodels, but the results are never entirely satisfactory, and it's a never-ending process. They are never happy with the final numbers, whilst a Curta gives the correct number every time.

Only a basic cleaning was necessary, there was some surface dirt - but all is operating smoothly. It's a carefully used Curta.
The set contained also the otiginal numbered cardboard box and the instructions manual.
The price was for low income collectors:-) ... my 2nd lowest price for a Curta I paid (only the green box was lower)...
