The Curta calculator, while novel in many ways, borrowed key bits of technology from earlier inventors. This CD-ROM (eBay listing #360091441771) presents the 38 key patents to both Herzstark & the earlier inventors whose inventions he built his creation on. Patents are in pdf file format. Works on both PC & Mac computers with CD drive & Adobe Acrobat Reader (free download). Anyone interested in the design & development of the Curta should own this CD.

The 12 U.S. patents in your reference are on the commercial Curta itself. Most are foreign (non-U.S.). The patent collection CD on eBay deals primarily with the much earlier U.S. patents by other inventors whose ideas wound up being used in the design of the Curta. There are 29 U.S. patents in the collection, including the 11 in your reference. Very different & instructive content for those interested in seeing how the Curta was designed & developed. Thanks for posting.

I continue to study my collection of mechanical calculator patents & keep finding early patents to inventors other than Herzstark that feature mechanisms related to the later (1940s) Curta design. This CD now has 40 patents in folders by patent Class with a Patent Office definition of each Class.
