How to earn US $376

a) take an normal CURTA / OPEN label

b) cut the label down to "CURTA"

[ cut the label - on the bottom side two sloped corners left over]

c) buy an old calendar (like this one... currently at eBay)

[ an original calendar from the fifties ]

d) put it on the old calendar

[ the final CURTA calendar... ]

e) describe it (original eBay quote): "To offers becomes an extremely rare table calendar with the print Curta. This was an advertising gift of the company Contina for \"well-chosen" customers of the Curta calculating machines. Of my knowledge only few numbers of pieces were produced by this Kalendtyp in manual labour. The calendar becomes by Annicken one day a wide-switched. The months and tens are actualised by Change or set wheel. The condition is very good."

f) be happy

PS: please note that this was my subjective impression

Ha, I too was amazed to see that attracting bids. You never know, MAYBE it's genuine.

a new much much rarer model:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Curta-I-II-Kalender-Calender-Tischkalender-/171049630934?

Yes it's a limited offer from the same seller...:

"...A desk calendar from the Company Contina with the Label CURTA is for sale. It is not the often offered "Nick Calendar"which the day is indexed by nodding the device, but the calendar never offered earlier, in which everything is adjusted using knobs and hand wheels. The calendar is in a very good condition. There are no signs of damage or defects, not mecanical and not optical. This is a private auction, no return, no exchange, no warranty."

Very Happy

Guys, PLEASE don't buy these things. I am not casting aspersions on the honesty of the seller, for all I know they ARE genuine, but even if they are, they were never a Contina product. You could probably print up a great Curta sticker and slap it on a calendar yourself for less than $20. Which is exactly how these were produced, even if they are fifty years old.

Crikey. Now they're doing coasters for your drinks as well. Old Curt must be spinning in his grave:
