I'm very new to Curta collecting (1 so far), but just saw this on eBay and wondered if it's a legitimate Curta item (and collectible), or if it's some kind of weird knock off. I couldn't find any mention of promotional items like this on any of the Curta websites (unless I wasn't looking hard enough).

While I'm tempted to grab it, it would probably be better in someone's collection that's been in it longer (if it's real, of course):

Not legit in our opinion, these come up all the time, they're just regular old desk calendars with a Curta sticker put on (put on this week that is). Good way to make money from Curta collectors, though. On eBay all kinds of stuff gets through - they check nothing of course - I believe one of Vincent's machines is regularly advertised for sale on that site even though it's a permanent feature of his bookcase!

Thanks for the info! Yah, I figured it was a knock-off since it didn't have any hint of the Curta design in it. It's sad that people go to so much trouble to pull scams like that, though. We used to see it in the trading card hobby, too. Hopefully no one will buy it anyway.
