I received a Curta from my father that he has owned since new and used in the mining industry when he was a surveyor. It has two screws in the baseplate as well as another hole with a metal plug and no writing or serial number on the baseplate. I found the serial number inside 54398. Has anyone else seen a baseplate like this? I haven't seen any in the photos I have sourced online.

Hi Aaron

... something like that?

[ Curta Type I prototype base plate with bracket ]

Otherwise it could be a custom made base plate.
Can you poste a picture?

Hi Murff,

Thankyou for the reply. I can't work out how to post a picture from my Mac. The base doesn't look like the pictures you posted.

You have to upload your image on a server (or an image service) - then you can use the image and end_image tags:

That should work...
