Curta Type I & II Price guideline

Please have a look: Curta Type I & II Price guideline

Arrow Arrow Arrow play with different combinations (e.g. based on your own Curta) and review the estimations - any comment or recommendation is welcome!
It's not the goal to define "THE" Curta prices - but I often was asked "what's the price of my Curta...?" - so here is a guideline...

Thank-you for putting together an objective point of reference for assessing the value of Curtas! It looks like a nice short cut / addition to checking those lengthy sale histories.

There's a Type II coming up for sale on fleaBay this weekend that could act as a test run for your template. The auction is currently at USD $622, and if I'm correct in my reading, your price guideline template is predicting a "buy" price of USD $1337.

(Disclaimer: I'm not the seller of the above Curta, nor am I bidding on it - - just an interested observer.)

Hmmm... I would estimate:
buy: 1068 US$ / sell: 1360 US$ ("very good" and "needs some cleaning")...

but yes, that's the idea... Very Happy

That helps me to better understand the terms you are using. The seller (via Google Translate) describes it as: "In top condition (without bumps or scratches), original case (with minimum use traces). Works flawlessly." I realize sellers are usually going to be generous in their assessments, but is your own estimate based on the photographs?

Yes, a lot of sellers offer Curtas "like new" "never used", ... but a 62 years old Curta needs a cleaning in any case (more or less deeply) - or the seller declares the Curta as newly CLA... Also the pictures are often under exposed so all is shinning dark and free of skratches. And you can't see if the sliders are running freely or stiff.

Here is nice sample (Item not tested but in good cosmetic condition...):

When I enter those parameters into your template (plus "501000-510520" & "metal in used condition") I'm getting buy: 980 US$ / sell: 1248 US$. What am I doing wrong?

... there is nothing wrong:

Curta Canister
- metal in good condition = buy: 1068 US$ / sell: 1360 US$
- metal in used condition = buy: 980 US$ / sell: 1248 US$

Even thought the seller describes the Curta itself as "top condition (without bumps or scratches)", they describe the canister as "with minimum use traces", and in the highlight in the photograph, it appears somewhat scuffed up.

I don't mean to be contrary, but I'm trying to better understand your criteria.

These are all subjective values - both the settings of the price guideline form and your selection of a state of the Curta.

So it's not possible to to say it's wrong or good.

Here is a sample of a Curta Canister - metal in used condition Very Happy
