Greetings everyone,

I have a Curta Type II with that has the main shaft slightly bent near the handle. It works perfectly fine but I would still like to get it fixed. I removed the handle and can see the bend. I imagine that it would be best to remove the shaft before trying to straighten it? Can the shaft be removed without having to take apart springs and other small parts that can easily get lost or be difficult to re-assemble? Thanks in advance for any help!

Alex

Hi moxzero

It's possible to straighten the shaft without disassembling it. It's described in the Curta Service manual (in German):

[2. Kurbel mit Hauptachse schraeggedrueckt]

You need a collet / drill chuck. Just use it bellow the hole for the handle... and bent it slightly back... carefully!

I used this procedure with success:-)

Happy bending!
