I just got very lucky finding a curta type I at an antique store. They must not have known what it was because they sold it to me for under $10. It was listed as a Curta camera lens and was with other camera lenses. It's number 70477. It came with the box, manual, example guide, and plastic case. It didn't come with any other kind of documentation. I don't know much about Curtas and I am looking for some advise on what to do with it now. Should I try to authenticate it somehow or get some kind of documentation in case I want to sell it in the future? Is there any particular way I should clean/maintain it?

Thanks for any advice,
Matt

Sorry, I can't figure out how to make the images smaller

Congratulation for this Curta!

Your Curta is a Type 1 and was manufactured May 1968... so, it's a late model which is quiet widely available.
Take a look to the included manual and try some calculations - it seems that this Curta was not used very often - so maybe it doesn't need any maintenance.

About pictures: you have to downsize the original pictures...

What a find! Good for you pal. Like Murff says...looks to be in good condition, try out some calculations, then put it back in its can or under a glass dome (to keep the dust off) like all mine.
